First Global Bank Limited (FGB) is a commercial bank operating in Jamaica, originating in 1970 as The First National Bank of Chicago (Jamaica) Limited. That organization later changed ownership and was renamed First Jamaica National Bank Limited. It was acquired on March 26, 1993, as a joint venture between Trafalgar Development Bank with 51% of the shareholdings and Grace Kennedy & Co. Ltd. (since renamed GraceKennedy Limited) having 49% of the shareholdings. The bank was then renamed Trafalgar Commercial Bank Limited (TCB). On November 3rd, 2000, GraceKennedy Ltd. took the bold step of acquiring Trafalgar Development Bank’s majority shares, making TCB a wholly-owned subsidiary of GraceKennedy, one of the Caribbean's largest conglomerates, with several diversified companies in the Caribbean, Europe and North America. Trafalgar Commercial Bank was eventually renamed First Global Bank Limited on January 1, 2002.
